Individual study plans
Doctoral studies
Every student admitted to doctoral studies have to draw up an Individual Study Plan (ISP). The plan is an aid for the doctoral student’s education and dissertation work. It also documents the university’s and the doctoral student’s commitments towards one another.
Establishing the Individual Study Plan
The Individual Study Plan should be completed no later than two months after the doctoral student has commenced their education. The process of drawing up the plan is carried out by the doctoral student, their principal supervisor and the head of department (or the equivalent) in consultation with one another. When this work is done, the head of department notifies the Faculty Office, whereafter the vice-dean for postgraduate studies establishes the plan in the system.
Following up the Individual Study Plan
The ISP has to be followed up annually, no later than October 1 every year, in relation to the planning that was made at the beginning of the education and the commitments of the university and the doctoral student that were established then. The follow-up is carried out by the doctoral student, their principal supervisor and the head of department (or the equivalent) in consultation with one another. When it is done, the head of department (or equivalent) is responsible for approving it.
