Important to know about CIM
What activities can I do as part of CIM?
To earn a CIM, you need to do at least three activities – one A activity and two B activities. One B activity can be replaced with three C activities, if you wish. The letters indicate the length and scope of a specific activity.
A activity
Normally lasts for about one semester. Examples: exchange studies or internship abroad, volunteer work within Lund Municipality, participation in an SAS course with course participants from several different parts of the world, etc.
B activity
Normally lasts for about three months. Examples: summer course or short internship abroad, volunteer work within Lund Municipality, etc.
C activity
Lasts for a more limited period of time (a few days to a few weeks). Examples: seminars or guest lectures on international themes (at least three), participation in Café Multilingua (at least five occasions), etc.
Your work with CIM will last for at least two semesters. You are welcome to suggest activities yourself, and see whether they will be accepted within the framework of CIM.
Can I use activities I have already done?
Yes, you can. However, you must have done the activity within the past two years. The important thing is that it had an impact on you, you gained international experience or intercultural competence from it, and that you can reflect on it now in retrospect.
How do I perform the reflection?
You need to reflect after each activity, on at least three occasions. You will then also be asked to perform a final summary reflection on all of your CIM work. When you register to take part in CIM, you will be given clear instructions on how to perform the reflection work. You will be told what each self-reflection should include, and will be given a template for the work.
When it is time for the final reflection, you will have found your feet and will feel more confident about what is required. The final reflection summarises all of your work, and should preferably show progression – your development from the start of your CIM work to its completion.
Will this make me stronger for my future working life?
Yes, absolutely. Experiencing new things, meeting new people and being asked to reflect on what you have been through is a sure path to personal development. This self-awareness and this highlighting of your own competencies automatically prepares you for the transition from study to work. You simply become more aware of your own strengths and abilities and train yourself to both see them and articulate them.
In addition, you will receive a certificate upon completion of your CIM work, and CIM will be added to the Diploma Supplement document that accompanies your diploma from Lund University.
How do I register?
You register by signing up for the HT Faculties' Canvas course. Then, it is simply a matter of getting started – everything you need to know is there!
