Interested in documentary film? Want to know about and see documentary film from East and South-East Asia? In this course we explore the socio-political context of documentary film-making and discuss how film provide valuable insights into many challenges.and current issues in the region.
In the course we will focus on the history and development of documentary film, and discuss a range of individual film-makers and films. Documentary film provide new insights into both contested history and rapid changes in the region. The film screened address topics such as gender, inequalities, human rights issues, and environmental challenges and struggles. The course approaches documentary film from a socio-political perspective but also make use of concepts and theories from film studies.

Eligibility:
To be admitted to the course, the student must have a degree of Bachelor in social sciences or humanities or the equivalent.
Oral and written proficiency in English corresponding to English 6/B from Swedish upper secondary school is a requirement. International qualifications will be assessed in accordance with national guidelines.
A general exemption from the requirement of proficiency in Swedish is applied.
