The Advanced Study Group (UN-)NATURAL BORDERS: Multi-disciplinary perspectives on the boundaries of European integration gathers a group of scholars across a variety of disciplines to explore how the social construction of ‘European integration’ interacts with the natural realm via the articulation of borders. The Advanced Study Group addresses questions on both how natural conditions determine the features and boundaries of European integration, and how the concept of ‘European integration’ in turn impacts upon and shapes the natural environment. In this workshop, we aim to bring together a wider network of scholars across social and natural sciences and beyond for discussions around a selection of ‘key concepts on the border’ and ‘methods on the border’. In doing so, we aim to expand the theme of the Advanced Study Group by bridging further disciplinary boundaries, identifying occurrences of integration-nature interactions in practice, and exploring the range of methods available for studying these interactions.
